Bob Saget is Here for You
His Heart is Fuller than a Full House
There have been several notable personalities passing away in recent months. I’ve been affected by the passing of Ed Asner, Joan Didion, and Sidney Poitier, to name a few.
However, I was gutted and absolutely shocked by the sudden passing of Bob Saget.
A few months ago, when I was feeling nostalgic for days and nights I had in New York City, pre-Covid, I watched a comedy special called “Bumping Mikes” with comedians Dave Attell and Jeff Ross. The episode I watched included two other comedians: Gilbert Gottfried and Bob Saget.
Until that point, I had not heard any of Bob’s comedy. It was off-the-cuff raunchy, funny, and delightful. I liked watching the quartet of comedians performing at a comedy club I’ve visited several times, and sorely miss.
What I’ve grieved, however, is the feeling I had in recalling Bob Saget as Danny Tanner. I have missed the young man who was not only a dad to a house full of young ladies, but in his own way, a responsible dad to his brother and his best friend. I’ve watched the show more times than I can count, but in losing Bob Saget, I realize what I’ve lost, so much more.
I grew up without my mother, and seeing Bob Saget act as a father, as well as a mother to his children on Full House stuck a deep chord…
