Notes from a Happily Ever After Reader

I’ll admit it. I’m one of the women who purchases and devours Harlequin romance novels and I love every single one I read.

What’s the appeal?

It’s like eating an Orea cookie. It’s comfortable. familiar, and you know exactly what you’re getting. Something a little sweet, a little chocolate, and not too over-the-top. It’s simple and tasty reading. A couple meets, works through their ups and downs in establishing a new relationship, and approximately 20 pages before the ending, has a misunderstanding that almost derails their love. Of course, the couple makes up in the last chapter. The epilogue includes a happy family event leading to an engagement, or a joyous wedding day.

Most Harlequin romances average 218 pages. If you’re a fast reader, you’ll finish one in a few hours.

There are several different Harlequin categories, ranging from Christian-themed, innocent inspirational to hot and steamy novels. I’ve enjoyed the suspense line of novels, which mix special ops danger with a romantic twist.

My current line of choice is the Harlequin Desire series, which, according to the publisher, delivers “A luxurious world of bold encounters and sizzling chemistry.” Recent titles hint at the following scintillating stories and conflicts:
